Almetyevsk Pipe Plant Launches New St...

Tatarstan based Almetyevsk Pipe Plant a subsidiary of Russian pipe producing company United Metallurgical Company has announced the commissioning of its new mill 10-65 produced by Italian company MTM.

 

The total investment in the mill project is RUB 150 million. The mill will produce round pipes with diameters of 15-50 mm and hollow sections of 15 x 15-50 x 50 mm with wall thickness of 1.5-4.0 mm. The mill's output capacity is 50,000 tonnes per year.

Turkish steelmaker Toscelik, part of Turkey based Tosyali Holding has won the natural gas pipe tender opened by Algeria's electricity and natural gas distribution company Sonelgaz Cameg SPA.

 

Toscelik, which won another tender opened by Cameg SPA 8 months ago for the same project will produce spiral welded steel pipes worth USD 80 million in total within the scope of the 2 tenders. 11 companies from Turkey, India, China and Europe participated in the latest tender.

Taiwanese Steel Pipe Makers May Cut P...

Reports indicate that the Taiwanese steel pipe producers may cut the list prices by TWD 500 per tonne for July in response to Chung Hung Steel's price policy.

 

Chung Hung Steel, one of the upstream raw material suppliers to steel pipe makers in Taiwan is going to release its list prices for July 2012 on June 26th 2012 and market participants predicted that the firm may reduce its list prices of hot rolled steel products by TWD 500 to TWD 800 per tonne.

 

Meanwhile, it's known that some steel pipe makers in Taiwan have already cut the prices to gain order in June 2012.

Bakrie & Brothers, the holding company for the Bakrie family’s business interests, wants to raise $150 million from selling its stake in two units, a director at the company reported.   Eddy Soeparno, finance director at Bakrie & Brothers, said proceeds from the sale will be used to fund the company’s investment plan.

 

“The option to sell assets is the right solution as the condition in the market is not conducive,” Eddy said. Bakrie & Brothers plans to sell stakes in steel pipe producer Bakrie Pipe Industries and steel pipe exporter South East Asia Pipe Industries.

Sidor Workers Calling for Reactivatio...

Business News Americas reported that workers from Venezuelan state steelmaker Sidor's Unidad Matancera union have asked the government to reactivate the project to build a tube plant, which has been halted since 2010.

 

Mr Manuel Rodríguez leader of UM told BNamericas that "Based on projections, the plant would consume about 450,000 tonnes per annum of steel to produce tubes for the oil industry and Sidor could be an excellent supplier of this input."

 

UM representatives recently asked the government for USD 1.5 billion to return operations at the plant to normal.

Sberbank lends $1 bln to Russian OMK ...

Russia's biggest lender Sberbank will lend 33.8 billion roubles ($1.04 billion) to United Metallurgical Company(OMK) under an agreement signed, the steel pipe maker said in a statement.

 

 

The 12-year loan will be used to finance the construction of an integrated steel-smelting and pipe mill in the Perm region of the Russian Urals. Earlier, OMK received 21 billion roubles in state guarantees to secure the loan.

 

 

Under the agreement OMK also mandated Sberbank to organise its possible future debt issues on the domestic and international markets.

The US International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty orders on stainless steel butt weld pipe fittings from Italy, Malaysia, and the Philippines would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.

 

As a result of the commission's affirmative determinations, the existing orders on imports of these products from these countries will remain in place.  All six Commissioners voted in the affirmative.
