China Seamless Pipe Exports Rise 19pc...

According to customs statistics provided by China National Bureau of Statistics, in July of the current year China exported 470,900 tonnes of seamless pipes down by 2.44% compared to June but up by 3.53%YoY. In the given month, export volumes of seamless pipe used for oil and gas transmission pipeline and oil and gas drilling totaled 199,000 tonnes and 200,000 tonnes respectively.

 

In July, China imported 16,300 tonnes of seamless pipes decreasing by 13.46%YoY and down 12.13%MoM. In the January to July period of this year total seamless pipe exports of China amounted to 2,966,100 tonnes, increasing by 18.84%YoY basis.

Turkish Seamless Pipe Imports up 12pc...

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in July this year Turkey's seamless pipe imports rose 12.4% compared to the previous month and were up 2.7% compared to July 2011 amounting to 24,944 tonnes. The value of these imports totaled USD 34.2 million increasing 13.2% compared to June and down 5.6% YoY.

 

In the first 7 months of the year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 145,230 tonnes increasing 3.3% compared to the same period of 2011. The value of these imports came to USD 213.3 million decreasing by 7.3% YoY.

By 2010 the global production of steel tubes had already recovered from the dramatic downturn of 2009. This positive development in demand continued into 2011, so that, on a global scale, the industry recorded growth figures of around 11 per cent, rising to about 141m metric tonnes and achieving an all-time production record.

Interfax quoted a company executive as saying that Russian oil firm TNK-BP is planning to hold a USD 2 billion tender by the end of the year for the supply of steel pipes from overseas suppliers.

Spectra Energy Corp reported it and BG Group Plc are planning a new natural-gas pipeline system in northern British Columbia worth as much as C$8 billion ($8.2 billion), to take the fuel from the province's shale-gas fields to a proposed LNG-export facility.

 

 

Spectra, which operates pipelines in Canada and the United States, said it hopes to build a 850-kilometer (525-mile) line with the capacity to carry as much as 4.2 billion cubic feet of gas per day from the province's northeast corner to the liquefied natural gas plant planned by BG at the port of Prince Rupert.

Japan's aluminum rolling mill Sumitomo Light Metal confirmed Tuesday that it will continue to produce copper tubes after its merger with the country's largest rolling mill Furukawa Sky in October 2013.

 

Its subsidiary Sumikei Copper Tube's product portfolio will complement the strategy of Furukawa-SLM, Sumitomo Light Metal spokesman Kozo Yamasaki said.

 

Sumikei Copper Tube produces 4,000 mt/month of copper alloy tube products at the Yokokawa plant in Aichi prefecture. Around 70% of its monthly tube shipments are used for air conditioners.
