The Columbus, Indiana and Walbridge, Ohio plants of AK Tube LLC, a subsidiary of AK Steel, have each received the "Safety Award of Merit" from the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), a leading trade organization that serves the metal forming and fabricating industry.

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) signed a land lease agreement with a Chinese investor, Huludao City Steel Pipe Industrial Co. Ltd ( Huludao) late April for a 50 U.S. million dollars project to develop welded rounding carbon steel pipe manufacturing facility in Brunei Darussalam.

The project is the second investment made by a company from China after the first investment by Zhejiang Hengyi which is involved in developing an integrated refinery at Pulau Muara Besar.

Northwest Pipe Company, an industry leader of engineered welded steel pipe products, was selected to provide 81,958 feet of 108-inch diameter, cement mortar lined and polyurethane coated spiral welded steel pipe for section 15-1 of the Integrated Pipeline Project. The construction contract for the installation of the pipeline project has been awarded to Garney Construction out of Kansas City, MO. The pipeline will transport raw water and provide new infrastructure capacity for the area. The project is anticipated to be complete mid-March 2016 and is jointly owned by Tarrant Regional Water District and Dallas Water Utilities.

China's Seamless Pipe Exports Slump b...

According to data released by China Customs, the country’s exports of seamless steel pipes totaled 281,623 tonnes in February, slumping by 35% year on year and falling by 45% from a month ago due to China’s Spring Festival holidays in early February. In the January to February period, the country’s exports of seamless steel pipes amounted to 796,887 tonnes decreasing by 8.9% YoY. In the first two months of this year, the exports of line pipes totaled 306,164 tonnes decreasing by 15%; those of oil country tubular goods were at 350,541 tonnes down by 8%, both compared to the figures in the same period of 2012.

Reports have surfaced that the Seamless Steel Tube Plant at BHEL Tiruchi, is augmenting its capacity from 35,000 tonne to 86,600 tonne per annum at an investment of about INR 159 crore for manufacturing seamless steel tubes that were required for making critical boiler components. A higher capacity push bench powered by 2 motor operating in tandem had been commissioned at the Hot Mill of the Seamless Steel Tube Plant of BHEL. The Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline Group (TAP) reported that it was re-launching a procurement process for goods and services that the project requires to transport Azeri gas into the European Union towards the end of this decade.

"TAP has taken the decision to re-launch its procurement process, following a review of its strategy and schedule. TAP will therefore initiate new pre-qualifications for goods and services that the natural gas pipeline project requires," it said in a statement.
